IRVING, Tx. (NNS) -- On March 18, a staff member assigned to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Dallas tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff member is currently at home in Dallas, Tx. and following medical guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The staff member showed symptoms of respiratory illness, and sought medical treatment after becoming aware of possible community transmission from a visiting guest. The service member consulted with a primary care physician and immediately self-isolated in their residence upon notification of positive COVID-19 test result. Personnel that the individual identified having close contact with have been notified, and are in self-isolation in their residences.
NRD Dallas is following all guidelines set forth by the Department of Defense, and the headquarters staff were placed on telework status for the period of March 18 to April 01. Health professionals are conducting a thorough contact investigation to determine if other personnel have had close contact or may have been exposed.
NRD Dallas is committed to taking every measure possible to protect the health of our force. We remain in close coordination with state and federal authorities, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of our personnel and local population.
