NORFOLK (NNS) – On March 22, a U.S. Navy Reserve Sailor assigned to Navy Operational Support Center New York City received a positive test result for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The individual is currently quarantined at home in accordance with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines.
Personnel that have been in proximity to the workspace of the affected employee have been notified and are taking necessary precautions. The Sailor will remain in contact with medical professionals and the command while undergoing quarantine at home.
Health professionals are conducting a thorough contact investigation to determine whether any other personnel may have been in close contact and possibly exposed. Depending on the results of that investigation, additional precautionary measures may be taken.
Commander, Navy Reserve Force is committed to taking every measure possible to protect the health of our force. We remain in close coordination with state and federal authorities, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of our personnel and local population.
