Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic (COMNAVAIRLANT) recognized two Sailors and two civilians for their dedication to the Type Command’s (TYCOM) mission during an awards ceremony held outside aboard Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads, June 12.
Logistics Specialist 1st Class Sonny L. Williams, Information System Technician 2nd Class Randall B. Dizon, Michael Marro, and Richard Pittman were all recognized during the outdoor ceremony.
“To our awardees, congratulations,” said Rear Adm. John F. Meier, Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic. “Here at AIRLANT, we take pride in the job that we do, these awards are examples of your dedication to our manning, training, and equipping role of our Type Command.”
Force Master Chief Huben Phillips congratulated the awardees for their hard work and dedication to the AIRLANT mission.
“It is always great we can stop all engines and recognize the incredible work that our Navy Team is doing,” said Phillips. “Well done and congratulations.”
For the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2020, Williams and Dizon received recognition for their superior dedication and hard work.
Williams, originally from Orangeburg, S.C., and assigned to the Type Command’s Supply department was selected as the Senior Sailor of the second quarter of this year. In 2019, Williams was recognized as Senior Sailor of the second quarter.
“It is nice to be recognized for contributing to the command,” said Williams, who is the first Autonomic Logistics Information System subject matter expert for the F-35C at the TYCOM.
Dizon, from Bremerton, Wash., received recognition as the Junior Sailor of the quarter.
“This award is a direct reflection on my shop, because I have to learn from my shop,” said Dizon. “Without them, I would not have learned a lot about what I have to do for my job. This was more of a team effort.”
Marro received recognition as the Civilian of the Quarter, for the first quarter of 2020, and Pittman was recognized as the staff civilian of the year.
“I consider myself a part of the AIRLANT family. I love this work and love this community of such talented naval warfighters. To have been chosen as the civilian of the year by my peers is an honor,” said Pittman, who serves as the director, Visual Information Services.
