The Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Energy Award winners were announced 29 Jul.
The Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Energy Excellence Awards program promotes excellence in the areas of energy security, new technology, innovation, program management, and efficiency across the DON. These awards annually recognize the accomplishments of Navy and Marine Corps operational units and shore installations from the prior year.
The goal of the DON energy community is to drive progress that enhances energy resiliency of the warfighter by providing assured energy in the quantity and of the quality required for mission accomplishment. All submissions received undoubtedly reflect the dedication of leaders throughout the DON who prioritize energy security and understand its importance on enhancing readiness, lethality, and modernization. The winners went above and beyond to promote energy security across the Department, and as a result are authorized to fly the SECNAV Energy Flag for a period of one year from the announcement date.
After careful consideration of all nominations, the Secretary of the Navy is pleased to announce the 2020 SECNAV Energy Award winners:
Large Shore Installation: Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam and Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms
Small Shore Installation: Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar
Afloat (Large): USS Bataan (LHD 5)
Afloat (Small): USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112)
Afloat (Logistics): USNS Patuxent (T-AO 201)
Expeditionary (Deployed): Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB)
Technology Development: USS Portland (LPD27) SSL-TM Energy Storage Module Team and Electric Ships Office (PEO ships/PMS 320)
