Ross’ visit at the Faroe Islands, an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, continues to build U.S. relations with people and officials from the Faroe Islands and the Kingdom of Denmark. Ross’ visit follows USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) Oct. 2019 port visit.
Ross’ presence in the North Atlantic Ocean demonstrates mutual commitment to regional security and stability as the ship prepares to participate in Exercise Formidable Shield. “This visit represents another step in developing our relationship with the Faroe Islands,” said Cmdr. John D. John, commanding officer of Ross. “Logistics visits enable our support to NATO Allies and partners, while promoting our collective trans-Atlantic security.” Strengthening partnerships during the port visit creates and builds enduring relationships and emphasizes our shared commitment to promoting security and stability within the region, while seeking opportunities to enhance our interoperability. Ross is currently on patrol in support of U.S. national security interests in the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of operations. U.S. Sixth Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
