The U.S. Navy proudly announces Navy Week’s return to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, August 4-10. As part of a nationwide outreach effort, Sioux Falls Navy Week will bring 50-75 Sailors to engage directly with the community through a week-long series of performances, educational events and service projects.
This year’s Sioux Falls Navy Week holds special significance as it coincides with the U.S. Navy’s 250th birthday — a historic milestone celebrating a quarter-millennium of maritime excellence, national security and global leadership.
“America’s story is inseparable from the sea—nearly 90% of global trade travels across oceans the Navy has protected for over 250 years,” said Cmdr. Julie Holland, Navy Office of Community Outreach director. We are honored to bring your Navy to Sioux Falls, where the heart of our mission comes to life—not through static displays or equipment, but through the remarkable men and women who serve. While we operate the most advanced systems in the world, it’s the character, courage, and commitment of our Sailors that set us apart. During Navy Week, you’ll meet the people who carry on a proud legacy of strength and service—from the ocean depths to the stars above.”
Sioux Falls hosted two previous Navy Weeks, most recently in 2016. This year promises an impressive lineup designed to inform, educate and inspire the Sioux Falls community:
Navy Weeks bring the Navy to regions without a major naval presence, fostering connections and showcasing how the Navy’s mission ensures the security, prosperity and freedom of our nation. The Navy Week program has visited over 95 U.S. markets since the program’s inception in 2005.
