Three staff members and one patient received burn injuries today when a fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. at the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) Dental Clinic, on the second floor of building #1.

The fire was contained to one room of the Clinic, and was extinguished by the local Federal Fire Department by about 11:00 a.m.

The injured were evaluated at NMCSD's emergency room, and were subsequently transported to the University of California Burn Center for follow-on treatment. The medical conditions of the injured are unknown at this time.

The incident is under investigation.
