This month's overview of alleged sexual assaults is compiled based on 77 initial reports across the Navy from January 1-31. This timeframe reflects only the receipt of the initial reports; 27 of the reported incidents occurred during this period, 28 of the reported incidents occurred outside of the report period and 22 occurred at an unknown time. Each report will be fully investigated. Looking at this snapshot in time, we see the following:

* Twenty-four reports are from events that occurred on-base, 27 are from events that occurred off-base and 26 events occurred at unknown locations.

* Among the 79 alleged offenders, two are chief petty officers, 21 are petty officers, five are E-3 and below and 51 are unknown. Twenty-eight of the alleged offenders are male, four are female and 47 are unknown.

* Twenty-eight of the reported incidents were alleged to be service member on service member, one was non-service member on service member, two were service member on non-service member and 48 were unknown.

* Among the 77 alleged victims, three are midshipmen, one is a chief petty officer, 37 are petty officers, 33 are E-3 and below two are civilians and one is unknown. Sixty-eight of the alleged victims are female and nine are male.
