Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fourteen (HM-14) held a change of command ceremony in Norfolk, on Oct. 10.

Cmdr. John Arbuckle was relieved by Cmdr. Kyle P. Leslie as the commanding officer of HM-14.

Leslie completed his first executive officer tour on board HM-12 in August 2018 and completed his second executive officer tour on board HM-14 prior to taking command of HM-14.

"We are the most ready and combat effective mine countermeasures force in the world,” said Leslie. “Our success depends on every individual's grit, initiative, teamwork, and commitment to being the best at their job while proudly representing our squadron, our Navy, and our nation in every action taken."

Leslie is an Arkansas native and graduate of the United Stated Naval Academy class of 2000.

HM-14, flying the MH-53E Sea Dragon, is one of the largest and most unique squadrons in the Navy. It is one of two squadrons Navy-wide that have integrated an active-duty airborne mine countermeasures squadron with its reserve counterpart, with approximately 400 active-duty and 250 TAR and selected reserve personnel.
