Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point (NHCCP) recently named its Sailors of the Year for 2019.
Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Earl Moore was selected as the NHCCP Senior Sailor of the Year. Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Joseph Rivera was named Sailor of the Year, Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Britney Tardugno was named Junior Sailor of the Year and Hospitalman Tercero Guerrero was chosen as the Blue Jacket of the Year.
In announcing this year’s selection, NHCCP Commanding Officer Capt. Doug Stephens said, “These personnel were nominated for their outstanding performance and contribution to the command’s mission. We have so many excellent Sailors here at NHCCP, these types of decisions are always tough. But these four Sailors have gone above and beyond, not just in their duties as Sailors, but in the community as well. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
Moore, originally from Summerville, S.C., has been in the Navy for nine years. His previous duty stations include Naval Hospital Beaufort, S.C., and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69). He is Fleet Marine Force qualified along with Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare and Information Warfare qualified. He recently returned from a six-month AFRICOM deployment and currently serves at the Leading Petty Officer for the Health Services Directorate where he leads more than 100 Sailors. He also is the assistant command CMEO, assistant command fitness leader and is a member of the DECON team.
"I'm very humbled to be selected as NHCCP's Senior Sailor of the Year," Moore said. "But it takes a team effort for any Sailor to receive this honor and I'm lucky to represent the great Sailors we have in the Health Services Directorate. WIthout their support and hard work, this wouldn't be possible."
Rivera, originally from Merced, Calif., has been in the Navy for 10 years. He is Naval Air Crew qualified and also has earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare pin. His previous duty station was Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO-ONE. He serves as the NHCCP Medical Homeport Department Leading Petty Officer and also is a member of the Diversity Committee, the Career Development Team and the DECON Team.
Tardugno, from Fruitland Park, Fla., has been in the Navy seven years and was previously stationed at Naval Hospital Guam and 1st Marine Air Wing Iwakuni, Japan. She is Fleet Marine Force qualified and currently works in NHCCP’s Human Resources department. Her collateral duties include assistant command master-at-arms, assistant command fitness leader, operational support officer, command individual augmentee coordinator and DMHRSi manager.
Guerrero, from Riverside, Calif., has been in the Navy for two years. He is the work center supervisor for the Medical Homeport White team and also served as one of the command’s Sexual Assault Prevention Uniformed Volunteer Advocates.
