Naval Support Activity Panama City, Florida, opened an Emergency Family Assistance Center (EFAC) Oct. 24. EFAC personnel are located at NSA Panama City’s Fleet and Family Support Center to assist personnel with counseling, legal services, financial services and much more following Hurricane Michael.
On Oct. 10, Michael, a category 4 hurricane, devastated Bay County, Florida, and its surrounding communities, destroying homes, schools, businesses and vital infrastructure affecting approximately 4,500 military and civilian personnel assigned to NSA Panama City.
EFACs are established at specific locations by Fleet and Family Support Centers to provide assistance to people following a large-scale emergency. EFACs provide a wide-range of services to military personnel, civilians and their families including counseling, information referral, financial assistance and housing assistance.
