Training Support Center (TSC) San Diego held a 9/11 remembrance ceremony onboard Naval Base San Diego Sept. 11.

The ceremony was a tribute to the lives lost at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, 16 years ago.

"Sept. 11 has a different meaning for different folks," said Capt. Michael S. Feyedelem, commanding officer of TSC San Diego. "We should salute the flag and remember those who lost their lives that day."

Feyedelem shared his experiences being stationed in Washington, D.C., that day and reflected on how 9/11 changed America.

The ceremony included a review of the timeline of the day's events and a moment of silence to honor the 2,977 men and women who perished.

The ceremony also gave thanks to the men and women who continue to serve and support the U.S. military.

"I think it is essential that we properly recognize all of our military heroes for the vital role they play in keeping our country safe," said Navy Career Counselor 1st Class Daniel A. View. "I am proud of everyone and grateful to be a part of this great organization."

Training Support Center San Diego provides centralized student management, facilities, information technology and training support to various Naval Education and Training Command supported commands in the Pacific region.
