Sexual Assault Reports: August 2016

This month's overview of alleged sexual assaults is compiled based on 103 initial reports across the Navy from August 1-31.
This month's overview of alleged sexual assaults is compiled based on 103 initial reports across the Navy from August 1-31. This timeframe reflects only the receipt of the initial reports; 23 of the reported incidents occurred during this period, 31 of the reported incidents occurred outside of the report period and 49 occurred at an unknown time. Each report will be fully investigated. Looking at this snapshot in time, we see the following:

* Thirty reports are from events that occurred on-base, 19 are from events that occurred off-base and 54 events occurred at unknown locations.

* Among the 104 alleged offenders, zero are officers, zero is a chief petty officer, 15 are petty officers, 11 are E-3 and below, zero are civilians and 78 are unknown. Twenty-five of the alleged offenders are male, four are female and 75 are unknown.

* Twenty-six of the reported incidents were alleged to be service member on service member, zero were non-service member on service member, zero were service member on non-service member and 78 were unknown.

* Among the 103 alleged victims, three were officers, 29 are petty officers, 52 are E-3 and below, one is civilian and 27 are unknown. Sixty-eight of the alleged victims are female, 22 are male and 13 are unknown.
