The command master chief for the Naval Construction Training Center Gulfport was relieved of his duties April 21.

Command Master Chief Moses E. Sampson was relieved by Capt. Heather Walton, NCTC commanding officer, due to a loss of trust and confidence in his ability to effectively lead.

The action resulted from the initial findings of an investigation at his previous command, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11, and additional investigation at NCTC, which determined that Sampson had not performed up to the high standards of his office.

Sampson assumed his duties as command master chief in September 2015. He has been temporarily assigned to a department within Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport.

Master Chief Constructionman Edgar Walker has temporarily assumed command master chief duties.
