USS Gravely Arrives In Israel

The guided missile destroyer USS Gravely (DDG 107) arrived in Eilat, Israel for a scheduled port visit, May 5.

Eilat is located on the southern end of Israel along the Red Sea.

"We've had a really busy underway since our last port call, and I'm ready for some downtime," said Interior Communications Electrician 2nd Class Monica Wood. "I'm really excited to visit Israel. I'll be taking tours to Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, and I'll also be enjoying some down time on the beach in Eilat."

Along with tours set up by the morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) committee, Sailors will have the chance to visit the Eilat Senior Citizens Center for a community relations project.

"I enjoy helping people and doing a community relations project while in port will add to my experience in Israel," said Damage Controlman Fireman Mikel Lamon.

Gravely is currently operating with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
