YOKOSUKA, Japan (June 3, 2016) The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) departed Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan, for summer patrol, June 3.

With a crew of more than 350 Sailors, Chancellorsville will conduct exercises, routine
engagements and operate as an air defense escort for the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed
aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).

"The team has worked hard in preparation and is ready to execute any mission when called
upon," said Capt. Curt A. Renshaw, commanding officer aboard Chancellorsville. "These Sailors
are some of the most professional in the fleet, and we look forward to every opportunity to train
and deploy."

During the past few months, Chancellorsville has conducted several training exercises off the
coast of Japan to prepare for deployment.

"We need to be ready for anything," said Cryptologic Technician (Technical) 2nd Class Richard
Yang. "The drills and scenarios we are constantly running give us the training we need to be
better at what we do."

Chancellorsville is forward deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of
security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.
