Rear Adm. Ross Myers relieved Rear Adm. Lisa M. Franchetti as commander, Carrier Strike Group 15, during a change of command ceremony on board Naval Air Station North Island, June 17.

Vice Adm. Nora Tyson, commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet, served as the ceremony's guest speaker and presiding officer.

"At 3rd Fleet, one of our most important missions is providing realistic, relevant training for our forces preparing to deploy," said Tyson. "Franchetti and her team ensured that we continued to meet that important mission. Before our Sailors and Marines deployed into harm's way, CSG 15, under Franchetti's leadership, sharpened their warfighting skills and prepared them for the difficult days ahead."

Franchetti assumed command of CSG 15 in January and led the strike group staff through a wide array of missions and exercises, including the certification of seven independent deploying surface combatants, a Destroyer Squadron Staff and a Pacific Surface Action Group (PAC SAG). Her next assignment is chief of staff, strategy and policy, Joint Staff (J5), Washington, D.C.

Myers' most recent assignment was vice deputy director for Nuclear, Homeland Defense and Current Operations, Joint Staff (J33), Washington, D.C.

Carrier Strike Group 15 executes, mentors, and assesses at-sea synthetic and academic integrated and advanced training of carrier strike groups, expeditionary strike groups, and amphibious ready groups.

U.S. 3rd Fleet leads naval forces in the Pacific and provides the realistic, relevant training necessary for an effective global Navy.
