Navy Information Operations Detachment (NIOD) Groton earned the right to fly the Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist (EIWS) Pennant Aug. 23.
Navy Information Operations Detachment (NIOD) Groton earned the right to fly the Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist (EIWS) Pennant Aug. 23.

To achieve the pennant, 100 percent of command-eligible personnel must be actively enrolled in the program and be qualified in a specified time period. NIOD Groton enrolled 30 personnel with no delinquencies.

"This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of NIOD Groton Sailors and further cements NIOD Groton as the information warfare subject matter experts on the Groton waterfront," said Lt. Cmdr. Ryan Haag, officer-in-charge at NIOD Groton.

NIOD Groton is subordinate to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Norfolk, and aligns under Task Force 1030 and ultimately Commander, Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet.

U.S. Fleet Cyber Command serves as the Navy component command to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Cyber Command, and the Navy's Service Cryptologic Component commander under the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. Fleet Cyber Command also reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations as an echelon II command.

U.S. 10th Fleet is the operational arm of Fleet Cyber Command and executes its mission through a task force structure.
