The Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) announced Jan. 29 its Small Activity Civilian of the Quarter (COQ) for the fourth quarter of 2015.

Mrs. Donna Noyes-Sprankles, a Military Support Specialist for CSCS Detachment (Det) San Diego, was truly grateful to be selected.

"I am truly overwhelmed and sincerely grateful," she said. "Without the exceptional support and true professionalism of the CSCS Det San Diego staff and CSCS community as a whole and the faith and love of my family and friends, recognition through receipt of this award would not be possible."

As a Military Support Specialist, Noyes-Sprankles is responsible for the daily administration, records management, budgetary, security, travel, purchase, and military / contractor personnel support functions of the detachment and provides unsurpassed assistance to local west coast CSCS components.

Lt. Cmdr. Scott Shenk, CSCS Det San Diego Officer-in-Charge, said Noyes-Sprankles deserves to be recognized because of her superior performance and positive attitude.

"Donna is a consummate administrator who brings years of expertise, know-how and resourcefulness to the table," Shenk explained. "She is absolutely 'all in' supporting Sailors and the CSCS mission. The San Diego team is extremely fortunate to have her taking care of us, and we are thrilled of her selection as COQ."

Recipient of a Navy Meritorious Civilian Service award in 2011, selected as the CSCS Small Activity COQ for the third quarter of 2012, and CSCS Small Activity Civilian of the Year (COY) for 2013, Noyes-Sprankles has been part of the Navy's mission as a civilian for more than 27 years.

"I reported to work at CSCS Det San Diego, known at that time as Aegis Training Support Group (ATSG) in May 1991, and every day since, I am very thankful and extremely proud, to be a contributing factor to CSCS' stellar reputation of training excellence and overall combat readiness of the fleet," she said.

CSCS' mission is to develop and deliver surface ship combat systems training to achieve surface warfare superiority. CSCS headquarters' staff oversees 14 learning sites and provides nearly 70,000 hours of curriculum for 700 courses a year to more than 40,000 Sailors. CSCS delivers specialized training for Officer and Enlisted Sailors required to tactically operate, maintain, and employ shipboard and shore-based weapons, sensors, and command and control systems utilized in today's Navy.
