Training Support Center (TSC) San Diego announced its 2016 Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ) for the first quarter during an award ceremony Feb. 12.

Electronics Technician 1st Class Stephanie Coyne, a native of Whitefish, Montana was selected as the Senior SOQ, while Sonar Technician 2nd Class Brandon Brown, a native of Jacksonville, Arkansas was selected as the Junior SOQ.

"I'm honored to be [senior] SOQ for TSC San Diego because it shows that the hard work done by my team and me in the Command Master-At-Arms (CMAA) office is recognized by the command," said Coyne.

Her primary duties working at the CMAA office include investigating Uniform Code of Military Justice violations; and facilitating Disciplinary Review Boards, Executive Officer Inquiries, and Captain's Mast events. In addition, she is an active member of the First Class Petty Officer Association.

Brown has been working at TSC San Diego for two years as a Navy Military Training Instructor (NMTI) at the Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Center in Point Loma, CA. During the first quarter of 2016, he qualified two chief petty officers and two first class petty officers as NMTIs and 20 boards reviewing progress through training phases for 100 Sailors. In addition, he led the TSC San Diego honor guard through 15 military ceremonies and a variety of other events.
"I have done a lot while serving in the Navy," said Brown. "My experiences have been varied, allowing me to explore several avenues that I would never have thought I could excel at. Receiving this honor is a proud reflection of the hard work ethic from my office as a whole."

"Both of these Sailors go the extra mile in their daily work, and strive every day to set the example for the command," said Capt. John Wilshusen, TSC San Diego commanding officer. "The consistent deck-plate leadership and mentoring they provide to our junior Sailors is critical to the development of our next generation of leaders, and I am proud to have them on the TSC staff."
