The commanding officer of USS Typhoon (PC 5), based at Naval Support Activity, Mina Salman, Bahrain, was relieved of his duties today by Commander, Patrol Coastal Squadron (PCRON) ONE, Cmdr. Jake Douglas.

Lt. Cmdr. Jeremiah Daley was relieved of his duties by Douglas due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command based on findings of an investigation into unsatisfactory performance and poor command climate.

Lt. Cmdr. Scott Whitworth, PCRON ONE operations officer, has temporarily assumed command until a permanent relief is identified.

Daley assumed command of USS Typhoon (PC 5) in May 2015 and has been reassigned to Commander, Task Force 55 located in Bahrain.

USS Typhoon (PC 5) is a patrol coastal ship whose primary mission is coastal patrol and interdiction. Patrol coastal ships have been employed jointly with the U.S. Coast Guard to help protect our nation's coastline, ports and waterways from terrorist attacks; in addition, the ships have been forward deployed to the Gulf region in support of the war on terrorism.
