Seabee Force Master Chief Christopher R. Levesques, the highest ranking enlisted Seabee, visited Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3, Detail Diego Garcia Seabees and U.S. Navy Support Facility (NSF) command on the island of Diego Garcia in British Indian Ocean Territory, Sept. 15.

The visit was part of many stops throughout the region to pass on information, answer questions, and to see how well his Seabees are doing.

Levesque held a meeting in the Public Works Department building with the troops.

Levesque spoke on many topics ranging from the new Maternity Leave Policy for female personnel to the combination of ratings at the Senior Chief level, including the opening of a new NSF base overseas at Deveselu, Romania.

Another subject touched on during meeting was a rumor about the downsizing and decommissioning of more NMCBs.

"The Seabee battalions aren't going anywhere any time soon," said Levesque. "And we aren't getting any smaller than what we already are."

NMCB 3 is home ported in Port Hueneme, Calif., and is currently deployed to Okinawa, Japan. Its mission is to support Navy and joint forces throughout the U.S. Pacific Command with construction projects and humanitarian missions in more than 13 different geographical locations.
