Guided-missile destroyer USS Gravely arrived in Bar, Montenegro for a scheduled port visit, Dec. 6.

USS Gravely (DDG 107) departed Norfolk, Va. Nov. 16 as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group to support maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.

While in port, Gravely will be giving tours to several groups in including embassy personnel and local schools.

"The shipboard tours we provide and participate in, while in foreign ports are essential to building strong relationships with partner nations," said Command Master Chief Neil Olds. "These tours provide us an opportunity to share knowledge with regard to tactics and operations while developing a better understanding of different cultures and building esprit de corps."

The deployment is part of a regular rotation of forces to support maritime security operations, provide crisis response capability, and increase theater security cooperation and forward naval presence in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
