Rear Adm. David Baucom received non-judicial punishment
(NJP) from commander, United States Fleet Forces, Nov. 23 after an NJP investigation revealed violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice(UCMJ) while he was serving as the director, Strategy, Capabilities, Policy and Logistics, U.S. Transportation Command.

During NJP Adm. Phil Davidson found Baucom guilty of violating UCMJ article 133, conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman, and article 134, disorderly conduct/drunkenness, and awarded Baucom a punitive letter of reprimand. A punitive letter of reprimand is a formal censure permanently filed in the officer's official record.

Baucom demonstrated poor judgment in his excessive use of alcohol and his resulting personal conduct was not up to the standard expected of all U. S. Navy Sailors. The Navy is committed to holding personnel, regardless of rank or position, accountable for their actions and preserving good order and discipline.

The event occurred on the evening of Apr. 7 and early morning of Apr. 8, while Baucom was on official travel in Florida. Baucom was assigned to U.S.

Transportation Command from October 2013 to October 2015. Baucom was reassigned to the Navy and reported to the staff of U.S. Fleet Forces on Nov. 4, 2015. Baucom is now under orders to the Pentagon.
