Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE) leadership named Cmdr. Ron Hoak a winner of the Outstanding Performance Award during an NAE Air Board video teleconference Dec. 14.

Hoak was recognized for his work as the NAE action officer and aviation operations staff officer at Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) Philadelphia. In his role, he was instrumental in connecting Supply Corps experts with type/model/series (TMS) teams to address supply-related readiness challenges, according to the letter of appreciation signed by Vice Adm. Mike Shoemaker, Commander, Naval Air Forces (CNAF)/Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CNAP).

"Your collaboration efforts ensured the right people were engaged and fostered coordinated inputs to leadership on a variety of issues," Shoemaker wrote. "This effort helped strengthen the enterprise bond between the fleet, provider and resource sponsor to work in a transparent and integrated manner."

During his tenure, Hoak played an essential role in driving actions, coordinating and executing events, and facilitating engagement. He was actively involved in the Engineering, Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Cross-Functional Team, supporting and coordinating responses to action items. He was also instrumental in the execution of the NAE Supply Summit, held Aug. 11 in Philadelphia, gathering more than 150 NAE stakeholders to discuss the contribution and impact of supply on readiness.

For Hoak, it was a privilege to serve as part of the NAE and be recognized with the NAE award.

"It's a fantastic honor to be included in the great cadre of military officers and civilians sharing the single focus of support to Naval Aviation," Hoak said.

As Hoak departs his current position, he wants to emphasize the important role NAVSUP WSS plays in the NAE mission and the high caliber of his NAVSUP WSS Philadelphia teammates.

"Duty at NAVSUP WSS allows me to be involved in the support of aircraft at every phase of the life cycle. From emerging platforms, to sun-downing systems, the logistical challenges are unique for every TMS and create a learning environment second to none," Hoak said. "I am surrounded by some of the best and brightest leaders, top-tier logistical thinkers and complex problem solvers in the Navy; there is no better place to obtain an advanced education in Aviation Supply Support than NAVSUP WSS Philadelphia."

The NAE Air Board, composed of leaders partnering to pursue the best interests of Naval Aviation, recognizes typically one Sailor, Marine or civilian employee each month for his or her outstanding enterprise-centric contributions to Naval Aviation. Award winners serve as positive examples of the enterprise approach at work. They routinely illustrate a commitment to the NAE principles of process improvement, a willingness to challenge assumptions, a focus on effectiveness and efficiency and a commitment to the greater good of Naval Aviation.

Naval Aviation leaders have distributed the monthly NAE Outstanding Performance Award since 2008 to promote a culture of cost-wise readiness. For a full listing of monthly award winners since 2008, visit www.nae.navy.mil. For more information, contact the NAE at nae@navy.mil.
