Information Systems Technician (Submarines) Second Class Petty Officer Cody Andrew-Godfredson Myers, age 26, of Washington, assigned to USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) (Blue crew) died of COVID-related complications Feb. 4.

Myers was admitted to the Naval Air Station Jacksonville Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 30, and transferred to University of Florida Hospital Shands Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Jacksonville Sunday, Jan. 31, where he subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.  Myers was in the ICU at the time of death.

Myers was placed on Restriction of Movement Jan. 18, as a precaution after close contact with an individual who tested positive for COVID-19. Sailors who may have been in contact with Myers have been notified already and taken the appropriate precautions.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family, shipmates and friends of Petty Officer Myers during this extremely difficult time.

USS Tennessee crewmembers are supported by chaplains, embedded mental health specialists, and Fleet and Family Support Center counselors at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
