Acting Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jim Kilby met with Commander of the Royal Netherlands Navy Vice Adm. René Tas for a counterpart engagement at the Pentagon today.

The two leaders reaffirmed the strength of their naval partnership and their shared commitment to European maritime security. The visit also highlighted the Royal Netherlands Navy’s consistent contributions to multinational maritime security efforts.

During the meeting they discussed the Netherlands’ ongoing naval modernization efforts, which encompass the development of deep strike capability development as well as air-defense and command frigate interoperability—initiatives aimed at deepening strategic alignment and enhancing cooperation between the U.S. Navy and the Royal Netherlands Navy.

Kilby expressed his gratitude for the Royal Netherlands Navy’s dedication to interoperability through joint exercises such as Formidable Shield, and said he looks forward to future opportunities to train together.
