Acting Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jim Kilby joined U.S., Dutch and British forces on June 30 to observe an amphibious assault during Atlantic Alliance 2025 (AA25), the premier East Coast naval integration exercise focused on improving joint readiness and interoperability.

Atlantic Alliance 2025 showcases the amphibious capabilities of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps alongside key allies, including the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, and aims to keep pace with the latest technologies, innovative tactics and warfighting concepts. Integrated training like AA25 improves Navy and Marine Corps readiness by providing an opportunity to test and refine warfighting concepts through practical application.

“This exercise demonstrates our dedication to collective security and the value of close cooperation with our allies,” Adm. Kilby said. “The blue and green team’s readiness and unified efforts are critical to responding swiftly and effectively to any threat.”

Throughout AA25, participants conduct amphibious assaults, air and maritime interdiction, and joint landing operations. AA25 uses real-world equipment and conditions to create a realistic training environment designed to help the Navy, Marine Corps and allied forces improve mission coordination and effectiveness.

During his trip, Kilby also met with Royal Netherlands Navy Fleet Commander Adm. George Pastoor, commander of NATO’s Amphibious Task Force (ATF), aboard the Royal Netherlands Navy’s amphibious transport dock HNLMS Johan de Witt (L801) to discuss the importance of international collaboration and deterrence efforts.

“Working together as a unified force strengthens Atlantic security and reinforces our commitment to our partners and allies,” Adm. Kilby added.

Atlantic Alliance 2025 exemplifies the enduring bonds between allied maritime forces and their shared dedication to maintaining freedom of navigation and regional stability. AA25 will train the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and allies in warfighting concepts needed to enhance capabilities to deter and defeat potential adversaries.
