During his visit, Kilby addressed approximately 300 recruits and their instructors, recognizing the more than 45,000 men and women who have sworn an oath to the Constitution and joined the Navy this year.

“This is the Foundry where we make America’s most lethal weapon system, United States Sailors,” said Kilby during his remarks to the recruits. “Today, our Sailors are standing the watch around the globe, defending the homeland, deterring threats, and ready to win our nation’s wars.”

In addition to the recruit call, Kilby met with reinstated COVID-19 Sailors participating in the Navy Veterans Orientation Program. The program helps prior-service members successfully reintegrate into the Navy before rejoining the Fleet.

“I appreciate your decision to return to serve your Navy and your nation,” Kilby told the prior-service members. “I commend you for your commitment and we not only need you, but we want you in our ranks.”

Kilby’s visit underscores the Navy's continued commitment to its people, recognizing both the service of active-duty Sailors and the experience prior-service members bring as they return to the Fleet.
