This month's overview of alleged sexual assaults is compiled based on 73 initial reports across the Navy from October 1-31.
This month's overview of alleged sexual assaults is compiled based on 73 initial reports across the Navy from October 1-31. This timeframe reflects only the receipt of the initial reports; twenty-eight of the reported incidents occurred during this period, 19 of the reported incidents occurred outside of the report period and 26 occurred at an unknown time. Each report will be fully investigated. Looking at this snapshot in time, we see the following: *Twenty-one reports are from events that occurred on-base, 20 are from events that occurred off-base and 32 events occurred at unknown locations. *Among the 73 alleged offenders, one is an officer, one is a midshipman, six are chief petty officers, 10 are petty officers, seven are E-3 and below and 48 are unknown. Twenty-eight of the alleged offenders are male and 45 are unknown. *Thirty of the reported incidents were alleged to be service member on service member and 43 were unknown. *Among the 73 alleged victims, two are officers, three are midshipmen, five are chief petty officers, 16 are petty officers, 41 are E-3 and below, four are civilians and two are unknown.
