Each day, Marines and Sailors put themselves in harm’s way to protect others. Today, our shipmates lost their lives while working to save others.

My wife Betty and I mourn the loss of each of these brave Americans, and send our deepest sympathies to their families and loved ones. We will never forget how they stepped forward to serve, and fulfilled their oath to the last full measure.

Our entire nation grieves for their loss and stands by those who were injured and must begin the long road of recovery. .
