REF/A/MEMO/OASD MEMO/10JUN20//

NARR/REF A IS MEMO FROM ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF DEFENSE FOR MANPOWER AND
RESERVE AFFAIRS FEDS FEED FAMILIES FOOD DRIVE CAMPAIGN 2020//

RMKS/1. On 1 June 2020, the U.S. Department of Agriculture virtually kicked
off the Annual Feds Feed Families Food Drive, requesting support from Federal
employees to donate non-perishable food items to those in need. The
Department of Defense (DoD) is again participating in this years campaign and
is soliciting our support. The Office of the Acting Assistant Secretary of
Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs is managing the drive for the DoD.

2. In light of complications associated with the Coronavirus Disease 2019
(COVID-19) outbreak, the 2020 campaign will be executed virtually in
communities where social distancing is in place. This includes greater
emphasis promoting online donations and virtual food drives, while also
providing guidance for in-person donations and events as appropriate.
Federal employees can go to the website:
https://fedsfeedfamilies.ocio.usda.gov to find out how and where to donate
online or in-person at food banks or food pantries, and how to organize
virtual food-drives.

3. In 2019, the DoD collected 1.03 million pounds of donated food of which
the Navy and Marine Corps team contributed close to 3,000 pounds. This was a
tremendous achievement by all to help feed individuals in our communities.

4. The food drive runs through 31 July 2020. Please encourage participation
and voluntary donations again this year. Any questions concerning the
campaign can be directed to Mr. Matt Medina, Department of the Navy Feds Feed
Families Champion who can be reached via e-mail at matthew.a.medina1@navy.mil
or (703) 693-0934.
