PRESS RELEASE: Accident investigation concludes

An investigation has been concluded regarding a vehicle accident, which occurred Sept. 30, 2019, at approximately 10 a.m., resulting the death of Airmen 1st Class Bradley Haile and Jacob Blackburn, and one Airman critically injured.

An investigation has been concluded regarding a vehicle accident, which occurred Sept. 30, 2019, at approximately 10 a.m., resulting the death of Airmen 1st Class Bradley Haile and Jacob Blackburn, and one Airman critically injured.

The crash occurred on base, with the vehicle traveling south on Langley Road on the east perimeter of Spangdahlem Air Base.

Witnesses and accident reconstruction analysis who were part of the investigation board indicated that the vehicle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed and was out of control when it impacted a parked construction vehicle alongside the road.

The Air Force is constantly evaluating its procedures with regard to safety, and Spangdahlem AB incorporates its findings into their training and procedures in order to enhance safety.
