CORAL SEA (July 21, 2021) The close-in weapons system (CIWS) aboard Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) conducts a live fire drill for Talisman Sabre 21. This is the ninth iteration of Talisman Sabre, a large-scale, bilateral military exercise between Australia and the U.S. involving more than 17,000 participants from seven nations. PORT HUENEME, Calif.
PORT HUENEME, Calif. (July 23, 2021) The GQM-163 Coyote Supersonic Sea Skimming Target (SSST) system is one of several successful events that took place during the At Sea Demonstration/Formidable Shield 2021(ASD/FS21) exercise. The target is a supersonic sea-skimming vehicle used by the Navy with the ability to reach speeds of Mach 2 or higher and altitudes as high as 52,000 feet.
