(May 28, 2022) Sailors assigned to the Virginia-class fast attack submarine USS Oregon (SSN 793) “bring the ship to life” during Oregon's commissioning ceremony in Groton, Conn., May 28, 2022. Oregon, the third U.S Navy ship launched with the name Oregon and first in more than a century, is a flexible, multi-mission platform designed to carry out the seven core competencies of the submarine force: anti-submarine warfare; anti-surface warfare; delivery of special operations forces; strike warfare; irregular warfare; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and mine warfare.
