GROTON, Conn. (Feb. 4, 2021) Naval Submarine Base New London harbor patrol boats simulate combat during a small boat attack drill in support of Exercise Citadel Shield-Solid Curtain 2021 (CS-SC21). CS-SC21 is a two-part, force protection exercise that is being conducted nationwide on Navy installations. Virginia-class attack submarine USS Hawaii passes by Diamond Head crater while transiting to Pearl Harbor. USS Hawaii is the third Virginia-class submarine constructed and the first submarine to bear the name of the Aloha state. Hawaii is capable of supporting a multitude of missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface ship warfare, strike, naval special warfare involving special operations forces, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, irregular warfare, and mine warfare.
