160603-N-VR008-019 SAN DIEGO (June 3, 2016) The ceremonial color guard of the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) parades the colors before the start of a remembrance ceremony for the 74th anniversary of the Battle of Midway in the ship’s hangar bay. Retired Lt. Cmdr. Richard Nowatzki, second from right, who served on board the aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV 8) during the 1942 Battle of Midway, spoke at this year’s remembrance ceremony.
