U.S. Navy Doctors Bring Medical Care to Amazon

AMAZON RIVER, Brazil (Nov. 27, 2017) Cmdr. Carlos Marco, Manaus Naval Polyclinic Director, left, comforts a 14-year-old indigenous boy aboard NAsH Soares de Meirelles on the Amazon River in Brazil. After the injury, the boy's family had hailed the NAsH Soares de Meirelles, which was passing along the river, and had used a small boat to bring him to the ship for medical attention. Barlow is a member of a team of five U.S. Navy doctors who are engaging in a month-long humanitarian mission up the Amazon River.
