Franchetti, commander, U.S. 6th Fleet and commander, Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO, presents a plaque to Bulgarian Rear Adm. Mitko Petev, Bulgarian Navy chief of naval operations, during a visit to the Bulgarian Navy headquarters in Varna, Bulgaria. Franchetti met with Petev to recognize the importance of Bulgarian defense initiatives, and their participation in international exercises and training in the Black Sea. U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests, security and stability in Europe and Africa.
