180916-N-KW492-0019 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 16, 2018) The Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) and the amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) transit off the coast of North Carolina. U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.
