170927-N-SA412-0089 DOMINICA (Sept. 27, 2017) Naval Aircrewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class Brandon Larnard, assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 22, embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), carries an evacuee off an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter following the landfall of Hurricane Maria on the island of Dominica. Evacuees are being transported to island airports for transfer to the islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe. The Department of Defense is supporting United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
