171012-N-XT183-110 NORFOLK (Oct. 12, 2017) Sailors assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) bow their heads in prayer during the ship's 17th remembrance ceremony for the Oct. 12, 2000 terrorist attack on the ship. Cole friends, family and shipmates, both past and present, gathered at the USS Cole Memorial on Naval Station Norfolk, for the ceremony. Seventeen Sailors lost their lives and another 37 sustained injuries while the crew worked for 96 consecutive hours to keep the ship afloat.
