More than just a keepsake passing...USS Gridley (DDG 101) Command Master Chief Kassel K. Ndiaye (L) accepts a ship's plaque from retired Chief Storekeeper Gene Hanson, a plank owner from USS Gridley (DLG 21) in Bremerton, Washington on Sept. 23, 2016. Hanson served on the guided missile cruiser in 1963 and 64 before retiring from a Navy career spanning 22 years and World War Two, the Korean War and Vietnam War. With the guided missile destroyer Gridley having relocated to Naval Station Everett recently, Hanson wanted to share a piece of history and heritage with the new ship bearing the name of his last (Official Navy photo by Douglas H Stutz, Naval Hospital Bremerton Public Affairs).
