201223-A-HS292-1027 GULF OF BAHRAIN (Dec. 23, 2020) A Sailor assigned to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 56 stands watch aboard a Mark VI patrol boat while escorting the guided-missile submarine USS Georgia (SSGN 729) through the Gulf of Bahrain, inbound to a sustainment and logistics visit in Manama, Bahrain, Dec. 23. Georgia is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
