ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 16, 2021) Fire Controlman 1st Class Nicolis Whitworth, from Charlotte, North Carolina and Fire Controlman 3rd Class Kimberly Melton, from High Springs, Florida, loosen a retention plates on a close-in-weapons-system (CIWS) barrel during a routine maintenance aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98). Forrest Sherman is participating in the Canadian-led exercise, CUTLASS FURY, alongside the guided-missile destroyer USS Thomas Hudner (DDG 116) and Canadian Allies. The Fury Series of exercises are bi-annual, medium scale exercises off the coast of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, designed to exercise Canada's Atlantic Fleet, Allied Navies, and other joint elements in tactical-level warfare.
