SASEBO, Japan (Nov. 17, 2021) The amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47) arrives at Fleet Activities Sasebo, becoming the newest addition to the forward-deployed naval forces (FDNF). The Rushmore relieves another Whidbey Island-class ship, USS Germantown (LSD 42), which departed Sasebo Sept. 15, 2021 after more than a decade of FDNF service.
