JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (Nov. 30, 2021) Capt. Mike Majewski, commodore of Submarine Squadron 7, presents Cmdr. Robert McDowell, commanding officer of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Jefferson City (SSN 759); Lt. Cmdr. Eric Stinson, executive officer; and Senior Chief Fire Control Technician Frank Cook II, chief of the boat; with a relic from the battleship USS Arizona (BB 39) in remembrance and commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The relic originates from a section of the superstructure of the Arizona that was removed from the ship when the Arizona Memorial was constructed. The Naval History and Heritage Command authorized the removal of sections of the relics for display and legacy enhancing purposes in 1994.
