Tips for refining search results

  • Use the word AND in between keywords to get results that include both words i.e. "Navy AND Recruiting"

Gordon Granger (right), who commanded Army forces participating in the battle. Granger was later appointed the U.S. military commander in Texas and, on June 19, 1865, read a proclamation announcing slaves in the state were free.
