PHILIPPINE SEA (June 18, 2022) Fire Controlman 2nd Class Chanyu Miao, from New York, feeds new rounds into a MK15 Phalanx close-in weapons system (CIWS) after a live-fire exercise aboard the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The CIWS is used to intercept air threats such as missiles and aircraft, as well as engage surface contacts.
