Jesse Bandle, a Navy doctor from Colorado Springs, Colo., assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego, performs exploratory surgery on a simulated trauma patient during a mass casualty drill aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4). Boxer, Fleet Surgical Team Five and Naval Medical Center San Diego participated in the two-day mass casualty drill, simulating Boxer as a casualty receiving treatment ship.
